Lone Tree Men's Golf Club

Hall of Fame

Purposes, Policies and Procedures

September 10, 2014

  1. PURPOSES: In September, 2013 the Lone Tree Men's Golf Club (LTMGC) established the Hall of Fame (HOF) in order to recognize two classes of individuals, as follows:

    1. Individuals who have made significant and outstanding contributions to the mission of the club, which is to provide tournament golf in an environment of fun and fair competition and good fellowship for members at all playing levels who appreciate and respect the game. These contributions may be through participation and leadership as a member of the Board of Directors (BOD), or other voluntary special efforts.

    2. Members who have exhibited truly outstanding golfing performance in LTMGC tournaments, while also demonstrating exemplary sportsmanship.

    3. Inductees to the LTMGC HOF will be limited to individuals whose contributions and/or golfing performance have been demonstrated at a very high level, and it is the responsibility of the BOD to ensure that this high level is maintained. Towards that end, the BOD, via this document, formalizes the policies and procedures for nominations and elections to the HOF.

  2. POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

    1. NOMINATIONS: Using the authority granted by Article III.4.d of the LTMGC By-Laws, the BOD will, by August 31 of each year, form a HOF Nomination Committee consisting of the Vice President, one other BOD member, and one current inductee to the HOF. The Nomination Committee will solicit nominations to the HOF from the LTMGC membership and will screen those nominations to ensure that the high standards for induction have been met. The Nomination Committee will present the case for no more than two nominees before the BOD during its October meeting. The Nomination Committee may choose to nominate no individuals in any particular year. No member of the Nomination Committee may be a nominee for that year.

    2. ELECTIONS: The BOD will vote on the HOF nominations presented by the HOF Nomination Committee in its October meeting. A two-thirds majority vote of the BOD is required for HOF induction. Any BOD member who is a nominee for that year may not vote in that year.

    3. ANNOUNCEMENTS: The BOD will announce any inductees into the HOF during the final Member Meeting and Awards Banquet prior to the final tournament of the year.
